TEHRAN (FNA)- Without Iran’s influential role, it will not be possible to establish security in the Persian Gulf, the military advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said.
At a national conference entitled the Status of the Persian Gulf in the World’s Strategic Developments, held in Garmsar, Semnan Province, Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi stated that Persian Gulf countries should be aware that Iran is the most influential country in the efforts to establish peace and security in the region.
Iran seeks peace and development in the region without the presence of aggressive countries, he added.
Pointing to the presence of 200,000 US troops in the region, he stated that the United States’ focus on the Middle East shows it is the most strategically important place in the world, Tehran Times reported.
About 60 to 65 percent of the world’s oil reserves and 42 percent of the world’s gas reserves are located in this region, he added.
Rahim Safavi also described the Islamic Republic of Iran as a stable country with great political and military influence in the region.
