TEHRAN (FNA)- The Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) formed a troika compromising Iran, Indonesia and Syria to help the besieged people of Gaza.
APA Secretary General Mohammad Hadi Nejad-Hosseinian said that the decision to form the group was made during the third APA meeting in Jakarta late November.
He noted the troika of parliament speakers of Iran, Indonesia and Syria will travel to the countries which neighbor Palestine to discuss initiatives for providing aid to the Gaza people.
Nejad-Hosseinian said that the reason that these three countries were chosen as the members of the APA Asian Troika is that Indonesia is the current APA chief, Iran was its previous chief and Syria is its next chief, press tv reported.
Israel has imposed a blockade on Gaza since June 2007, which has led to a shortage of food, medicines and fuel in the impoverished territory that is home to 1.5 million Palestinians.
