The Political Council of Bulgaria’s ruling three way coalition will discuss recent political issues at its session on Friday afternoon.
The Leaders of the three ruling parties, BSP, NDSV and DPS will discuss the last Eu report on Bulgaria, anti-crisis measures and the preparations for the upcoming elections for both the national and European parliaments in the summer of 2009.
one of the main issues that sparked debates among the members of the opposition was if both elections should be held on the same day or not. NDSV called for a change in the Constitution that would allow them to be held on the same day.
Their partners however beg to differ. BSP hasn’t yet announced its position, but also hasn’t sent a inquiry to the Constitutional Court, while DPS already declared itself against the measure.
Another issue where the three parties ca not find common ground is if and how to implement a majority electoral system for MP’s. DPS’ position is that it is already too late for any changes in voting laws.
