NATO sought to put an end to media speculation that it plans an imminent reduction of troops in Kosovo when the organisation’s Secretary General Jaap to Hoop Scheffer said nothing of the sort has been decided.
“I want to be clear. Those speculating of a possible KFOR troops reduction in Kosovo do not talk in the name of NATO,” said Scheffer.
Scheffer was reacting to a number of press reports from Brussels and Pristina that NATO plans to reduce its troops. “Possible changes in KFOR’s structure will happen only according to political decisions of our allies,” said Scheffer.
