Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz is due in Belgrade today to meet with officials responsible for Serbia’s cooperation with the court.
President of the National Council for Hague Cooperation Rasim Ljajic cautioned against placing great expectations on what he said was a regular working visit.
He said Brammertz would be briefed on progress in the search for the remaining Hague fugitives.
Brammertz is due to meet with President Boris Tadic and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic.
One of the topics of discussion will be the government’s proposal to allow those convicted of crimes before the Tribunal to serve their sentences in Serbian prisons.
Before Serbia’s Stabilization and Association Agreement and Interim Trade Agreement with the European Union can be unfrozen Serbia must demonstrate full cooperation with the Hague Tribunal.
Brammertz will submit his next report on Serbia’s cooperation in June, at a regular session of the UN Security Council in New York.
