Albanian opposition hails NATO membership, urges responsibility

TIRANA, Albania – Opposition party leaders said on Sunday (April 5th) the country’s accession into NATO is an achievement for all Albanians, who did what it took to merit membership.

The leader of the opposition Social Movement for Integration, Ilir Meta, said NATO membership requires the government and all its officials to show more responsibility and accountability.

He also urged the government to resolve any remaining glitches in the process of issuing new electronic identity cards, so all eligible voters can cast ballots in the June 28th parliamentary elections.
