US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has expressed her country’s support for Montenegro’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
Clinton congratulated Montenegro on receiving its Action Plan for membership to NATO, MAP, in December last year. “I offered, and support US efforts to establish rule of law by seeking membership to NATO and the EU,” the US Secretary of State said.
Clinton said this following a meeting with Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic on Wednesday evening in Washington. Vice President Joseph Biden jointed discussions on the situation in the region.
“Our key reform challenges are to improve the rule of law,” the prime minister said, adding that Montenegro will “definitely be the first following NATO member.”
Clinton also thanked Montenegro for its contribution to the NATO mission to Afghanistan.
