Finnish FM Alexander Stubb says that Finland is “strongly supporting Serbia on its path toward the EU”.
He also said that he is hoping for the ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between Serbia and the EU to take place “soon”.
After his meeting with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić in Belgrade on Thursday, Stubb stated that he expected that “the SAA between Serbia and the EU would be ratified as soon as possible”.
The Finnish minister, who came to Belgrade after his trips to Bosnia and Kosovo, said that the Western Balkans was “strategically and politically a very important part of the European integrations”.
Jeremić said after the meeting that he primarily spoke about “European integrations and regional issues” with the his Finnish counterpart.
“The sooner Serbia makes the steps toward the EU, the region of the Western Balkans will be safer, more stable and more prosperous,” he concluded.
