KFOR commander Markus Bentler: “KFOR won’t interfere in political processes”

KFOR commander Markus Bentler says that the NATO-led mission will not interfere in the political processes in Kosovo.

The German general pointed out that KFOR was impartial and that, according to UN SC Resolution 1244, its duty was to secure a safe environment in all parts of Kosovo.

“Only in a safe environment is it possible to develop political processes,” Bentler said, stressing that KFOR’s task is not to involve in political developments.

“KFOR is supporting the building of Kosovo Security Forces which are organized in a similar way to the German Technical Support Agents,” he said.

He also stressed that KFOR would continue, via EULEX and in agreement with the institutions in Kosovo, to coordinate essential aspects of the tasks of the police.

Bentler also declared that Serbia is not a danger for Kosovo.
