CoE Secretary-General praises Serbia’s reforms

Council of Europe (CoE) Secretary-General Thorbjorn Jagland praised the reforms implemented in Serbia during a visit to the country Wednesday (April 14th). He announced that the CoE’s Committee of Ministers has decided to stop post-accession monitoring of Serbia, opting instead for regular analysis.

Jagland said Serbia has successfully overcome the past to become a source of regional stability. President Boris Tadic said it is important that the CoE maintain neutrality regarding Kosovo’s status. He also thanked Jagland for his efforts to preserve the Serbian cultural heritage in Kosovo.
