Johannes Swoboda, vice-president of the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with south-east Europe said one of the solutions for Serbs in Kosovo would be autonomy as was the case with Serbs in BiH with the help of the Dayton treaty.
According to the Australian MP that step would mean joint responsibility of Belgrade and Pristina over north Kosovo as it was the case with South Tirol, whose autonomy in Italy is guaranteed by the governments of Rome and Vienna.
“I think we need a solution that won’t bring into question Kosovo’s independence and will secure Serbs self-government in Kosovo, he said.
Serbia has never had a better government that they have today. He saluted Belgrade’s intention after ICJ in Hague decision on Kosovo’s independence. Serbia should begin new talks with Pristina, he added.
