Moldova: CEC prepares for referendum

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is to adopt the plan of action and the calendar plan for organizing the constitutional referendum at its July 9 meeting.

On July 7, the Parliament of Moldova decided the plebiscite will take place on September 5. The voters will answer only one question: “Are you in favor of amending the Constitution so that it allows for direct election of the head of state?”.

The CEC’s meeting is set to start at 2pm. One hour later, the members of the Commission and representatives of parliamentary parties will come together for a separate meeting.

The regulations concerning the covering of the electoral campaign for the constitutional referendum of September 5, 2010 by the mass media in Moldova have been published on the Commission’s website.
