On Thursday, President of the World Bank Group Robert Zoellick, who is currently on a visit in Moldova, thanked Moldovan Prime Minister Vladimir Filat for a “very good and efficient partnership established between the WB and the Government of the RM”.
“I got convinced during my meetings in Moldova that a big potential and possibilities for state-developing reforms’ implementation exist here. And we are proud that we are able to help Moldova in these efforts”, he said.
The WB President said state-donors in Brussels expressed a desire to provide Moldova with US$2.6 billion, but he called the authorities to be attentive to this aid’s effects.
According to him, donor assistance will be provided to the state depending of Moldovan actions and progresses in implementing domestic reforms.
“All those people, who know Vladimir Filat, know he is a very energetic person, who want to take quickly measures to improve economic situation and citizens’ life in Moldova”, Robert Zoellick said.
The WB President made these statements after signing the project of economic development and restoration, which provides the US$25 million budget support, and was assigned by the WB on June, 26, 2010; and also after signing the US$10 million project of prevention and fighting with natural disasters, assigned by the WB on August, 5, 2010.
