Secretary of State for European Affairs: Western Balkans EU perspective is a clear goal for EU

The economic crisis and the reforms, which have to be implemented on the road towards EU are among the chief reasons for the weakened support for Western Balkans EU integration, the Secretary of State for European Affairs Pedro Lourtie said.
He pointed out that the EU perspective of the Western Balkan countries is a clear goal for EU.

What that means is that EU would like to see the Western Balkan countries join EU right after they meet all necessary criteria. The Western Balkan countries are more than partners to EU. Of course, when they are more than that, the responsibility of both sides will increase, Lourtie said.
