In a lecture hosted by the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, Turkish Ambassador to Sofia Mehmet Gucuk reiterated Ankara’s demand for Bulgarian backing in its bid to join the European Union. The Ambassador reminded his country had been the sole country to support Sofia’s NATO entry with a special legislation. Mehmet Gucuk also emphasized that Ankara’s accession to the club of 27 would be of benefit to all of its members since Turkey was the EU’s sixth largest economic partner.
