EU’s Reding praises Croatia’s efforts to fight corruption

EU Commissioner in charge of Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Viviane Reding, has voiced support for Croatia’s efforts to combat corruption. After meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor in Brussels on Monday (October 25th), Reding stressed the importance of an independent judicial system. Kosor voiced confidence that Croatia will meet all benchmarks related to the judiciary negotiation chapter so that it could be closed early next year. Croatia aims to complete its EU accession talks by mid-2011.
