Bulgaria has congratulated Kosovo’s government and central election commission on the organisation of the December 12 2010 parliamentary elections, the first since the country declared independence.
The elections were proof that Kosovo society was successfully on the path of democratisation and was able to put into practice the democratic values of Europe, Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Vessela Tcherneva said.
“Hopefully the new institutions of the Republic of Kosovo will be formed in accordance with the will of the voters in the shortest possible time,” Tcherneva said.
Kosovo needed stable and effective institutions to deal with many challenges in the country’s path towards Euro-Atlantic integration, she said.
Bulgaria expected that the newly elected institutions in the Republic of Kosovo would co-operate successfully with European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton in carrying out dialogue with Belgrade in terms of the UN General Assembly resolution.
