Settlement of the Cyprus issue could be reached by the end of 2011, under the condition that leader of Turkish Cypriots Dervis Eroglu and Ankara accept a solution based on the formula of creating a federation of two communities in the island, President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris said.
Christofias noted that Eroglu did not demonstrate a constructive position at the Geneva meeting on January 26, failing to produce a positive response to the former’s proposal for a UN count of the population in the Turkish part of Cyprus, in order to determine the number of Turkish immigrants on the island.
