Montenegrin Prime Minister Igor Luksic said that his country is ready to become a full member of NATO. His remarks came after meeting with the alliance’s leader in Brussels on Thursday.
“We have shown in our past efforts…that Montenegro is ready, mature and responsible for complying with all the necessary tasks which are expected from a future member,” Luksic told a press conference following his meeting with NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Thursday, during his first official visit to Brussels.
Montenegro’s premier stressed that he shared Rasmussen’s view that the small Balkan country’s future lies within the European Union and NATO, and agreed that NATO is a guarantor of peace and security in the region.
