Romania, Turkey to co-operate in fighting against crimes and terrorism

Turkey and Romania agreed on Wednesday (May 18th) to ramp up co-operation in fighting terrorism and drug trafficking. Under the deal signed in Bucharest by representatives of the Turkish Justice Ministry and Romania’s DIICOT, a department at the Justice Ministry specialising in organised crime, police officers and prosecutors from the two countries can set up joint investigations and exchange information. DIICOT said in a statement it will especially impact “the fight against cross-border drug smuggling through the Balkan route”.
