Greece supports Serbia’s EU integration

Athens will continue to support Serbia’s EU integration, Greek Foreign Minister Dimitris Droutsas told his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremic on 19 May during an Economist conference in Lagonissi, Greece.

Stressing that Serbia has made great strides in EU integration recently, Droutsas told reporters after the meeting that Greece encouraged and supported Serbia in continuing with the same determination, for it was also important for the joint goal of integrating the entire region into the EU.

Greece is following a plan and preparing to work on that goal during its presidency over the EU in 2014, he stated, adding that the ambition was to see the entire Western Balkans become a part of the EU in the near future.

Jeremic said earlier that the Western Balkans is on route to completing the process of democratic consolidation, but there are two more issues to be addressed, Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
