Karadzic bumped by Mladic from main Hague court

War crimes defendant Radovan Karadzic was bumped from his usual courtroom and his spot on closed-circuit television at the Hague tribunal on Friday by his former partner Ratko Mladic.

The two Bosnian Serb wartime leaders – Karadzic the politician and Mladic the army general – appeared side by side on many occasions during the 1992-95 war in which they are both accused of crimes against humanity and genocide.

On Friday they were due to make separate appearances,Karadzic, arrested in 2008 and on trial for the past 18 months, usually sits in Courtroom One at the Hague tribunal. He was moved to Courtroom Three to make way for the arraignment of Mladic, the tribunal’s latest catch.
