Bulgaria will enter the Schengen Agreement, but its accession to the European border-free zone is not its highest prioriry right now, according to the country’s EU Commissioner, Kristalina Georgieva.
“We are technically ready to join Schengen, but its hardly a priority for the Bulgarian nation,” Georgieva said Monday. She added that keeping stability is the most important issue for Bulgaria, Europe and the whole world right now, while economic stability is the most crucial problem within the Eurozone.
Georgieva, who is the EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Crisis Response and International Cooperation, stated she expected EC’s annual monitoring report on Bulgaria under the so called Cooperation and Verification Mechanism will be unbiased.
