War crims suspect Goran Hadzic was arrested in Serbia

Serbian President announces the arrest of Serbia’s last remaining UN-indicted war crimes suspect, the former leader of the Croatian Serbs, Goran Hadzic.

Goran Hadzic was arrested at 8.24am, Serbia’s President, Boris Tadic, told a press conference in Belgrade on Wednesday.

“With Hadzic’s arrest Serbia has met its legal obligations and moral duties,” Tadic said, referring to the fact that Hadzic was the last UN-indicted Serbian war crimes suspect.

“Cooperation with the Hague [tribunal], which was our great obligation, has been fulfilled,” he added.
