Montenegrim official says the relations with Serbia are lower than it is necessary

Milo Đukanović says that the relations between Montenegro and Serbia are at significantly lower level than it is necessary and possible.

The leader of the ruling Montenegrin DPS party and the former Montenegrin PM and president said that the reason for such situation was “the fact that Belgrade has not yet fully accepted Montenegro’s independence”.

Montenegro declared independence in June 2006, after a referendum, and was recognized by Serbia the same month.

Đukanović said that the Serbian authorities are constantly flirting with powerful ideological centers in that country which do not back the Montenegrin independence.
