Croatian President Ivo Josipovic urged voters on Friday not to miss a “great opportunity” and back their country’s entry into the European Union in a nationwide referendum on the issue this weekend.
“Sunday is a big and important day. Our citizens have an opportunity to say what kind of Croatia they want,” Josipovic said at a news conference on the country’s EU accession.
Membership of the bloc is a “great opportunity and it depends on us whether we take advantage of it.
Josipovic said he was confident that in Sunday’s referendum Croatians will show they have “courage, knowledge, and persistence” and back EU entry.
