Georgia to scrap visas for Russian citizens

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili has said on Wednesday that he wants to scrap visa requirements for Russians.

“Let every Russian citizen know that they can come to Georgia without a visa, do business here, spend holidays in our resorts, see their friends and relatives,” he said.

Bilateral visa restrictions were imposed in 2000 but Georgia eased requirements in 2004, which allowed Russians to receive visas on arrival in the country.
