EP to vote resolution on Serbia

On Thursday, The European Parliament will vote on a new resolution on Serbia. This resolution praises Serbia’s reforms and efforts and it says that the EU accession talks should be opened as soon as possible.

“I believe Serbia is ready for accession talks. Negotiations should start as soon as the new government shows its commitment to the reforms and regional cooperation,” Jelko Kacin, the European Parliament’s rapporteur on Serbia, said.

However, the resolution states that Serbia most do more efforts.

Even though the Serbian government has adopted several anti-corruption laws, the report says they have been badly implemented and the executive branch is increasingly influencing independent institutions and the media.
