Thirty-five hostages and 15 kidnappers have been killed in southern Algeria.
41 hostages (from United States, Japan, Norway, France, Romania) and Algerians were taken hostage by armed militants near the Amenas gas field.
The kidnappers motivated their action as a response for Algeria which has let France to use its airspace for the military intervention in Mali.
Algeria has refused to negotiate and responded by surrounding the gas field with soldiers and attacking the terrorists.
The operation is continuing. All Algerians citizens have been released, however there are still over 20 foreigners that are being held as hostages.
