On Monday, the Malian army has retaken the control of Diabaly, an important town in the fight against Islamist militants that are concentrated in the north of the country.
A spokesman of the army said they succeeded to retake the town with air support from France, without ground assistance.
The Islamist extremists had returned to Mali well armed after fighting for Moammar Gadhafi and staged a coup against the Malian government.
According to many global security experts Mali could become a new hub for terrorism if the extremists would remain in control.
