Rodoljub Radulovic, a member of suspected drug lord Darko Saric’s gang, has sent a letter denying all ties with the clan, describing the affair as a set-up.In a letter allegedly “sent to Belgrade friends”, Radulovic denies ties to the runaway suspected drug lord Darko Saric, and accuses another suspected criminal, Dragan Dudic aka Fric, of “setting him up with the affair.
“He [Fric] ascribed to me everything that he was doing himself,” he wrote.
“That way it turned out that I was doing business with the Saric clan, rather than Dragan Dudic Fric,” the letter added.
Both Radulovic and Dudic are natives of the Montengrin coastal town of Kotor, where the latter was shot dead in 2010.
Saric, of Montenegrin origin but holding Serbian citizenship, is the alleged leader of an organised criminal group accused of smuggling cocaine from Latin America to Europe.
Prosecutors filed charges against Saric and his associates in April 2010 and issued a warrant for his arrest. Both Saric and Radulovic remain at large.
Radulovic has been the focus of media attention in Serbia ever since it emerged that on several occasions he met Ivica Dacic, then Serbian interior minister, and now Prime Minister.
On February 3, Dacic admitted having met Radulovic in 2008 and 2009, but maintained that he was not aware of his criminal background.
