European foreign ministers will meet to discuss the EU arms embargo on Syria at an informal meeting in Dublin on Friday and Saturday.
Arriving at Dublin Castle today, EU foreign ministers reiterated their positions on the question of arming Syria’s rebels.
German foreign minister Guido Westerwelle acknowledged that while there were valid arguments on both sides of the debate over whether to lift the arms embargo, Berlin still had reservations. “Every side has good reasons but Germany is still reluctant,” he said, adding that there were concerns that weapons could “fall into the wrong hands”.
