EC releases progress report for Serbia and FYROM

The European Commission (EC) released its reports on progress made by Serbia, Kosovo and FYROM in their bids to join the EU.

The EC approved a special report on FYROM maintaining its stance that FYROM should receive a date for starting EU accession negotiations. Moreover, the EC expressed its confidence that FYROM could solve its problems with Greece and Bulgaria in their initial stage.

EU Commissioner Stefan Fule underlined once again the importance of good-neighbourly relations. He stated that the accession process should avoid causing bilateral problems in the EU. “We don’t want bilateral ‘mines’ to explode in the middle of the accession process, which could hold up or derail the process,” Mr Fule said.
