Bulgarian parliament to vote on new government

The 42nd National Assembly is to vote on a government headed by Plamen Oresharski on Wednesday at its regular meeting. On Tuesday Oresharski, who is nominated for prime minister by the Coalition for Bulgaria, presented President Rosen Plevneliev with the fulfillment of the government formation mandate, which he received last Thursday.

The head of state signed a decree, proposing that the parliament should put Oresharski’s nomination for prime minister to the vote. When leaving the President’s Office, Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Sergey Stanishev said:
“I hope tomorrow Ataka will not follow the scenario of Boyko Borisov and Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, because I do not think their voters want Borisov to remain in power. Mr. Oresharski extended an invitation to them as well – not for negotiations, but for consultations about the future government’s program and plans. The meeting did not take place.”

Asked whether this was not a sign that tomorrow they would not register and there would not be 121 people in the parliament, Stanishev said that such a move would be irresponsible and would place Ataka in the scenario of Boyko Borisov and Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria.
