Turkey backs Skopje on name issue with Greece

Greece blocks Macedonia’s NATO membership over the name issue but we will be always next to it and will not allow change of the name. This is what Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.

In his words Macedonia will always remain Macedonia and Turkey will be on its side. According to the Turkish prime minister, Greece is not right to ask for change of Macedonia’s name.

“Turks and Macedonians are brothers. To us, there is no difference between Ankara and Skopje and we will never abandon our brothers,” Erdogan said.
