Turkey informed its embassy in Cairo to be ready for possible evacuation of Turkish citizens following escalation of protests in the wake of the ousting of president Mohammad Morsi.
The Turkish embassy in Cairo received instructions Monday to prepare a plan to evacuate citizens in case of further deterioration of the security situation.
The embassy has begun counting the number of Turks living in Egypt in case of rapid evacuation process.
The Turkish move came after local media reported that Turkish journalists were attacked in Egypt during confrontations between supporters and opponents of Morsi.
