Egypt’s public prosecutor has ordered the detention of ousted President Mohamed Morsi for alleged contacts with Hamas.
Morsi has reportedly been in contact with the Palestinian Islamist organization that helped him escape from prison in 2011.
For this reason an investigating judge has ordered him placed in detention for 15 says, while his custody may be extended if the investigation continues.
This case relates to the escape of tens of leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood from prison during a protest in 2011, when Morsi’s predecessor Hosni Mubarak was overthrown.
