Kosovo assembly adopts resolution on role of EULEX

imgThe Kosovo assembly in Priština has adopted a resolution on the role of EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX.

The resolution “instructs local institutions to start preparing a plan from September for the takeover of the EU mission’s powers by the Kosovo authorities which should take place when EULEX’s mandate expires next June,” Tanjug reported.

Even though the EU has left the door open to extending EULEX’s mandate past June 2014, the resolution asks that this option not be activated, citing dissatisfaction with EULEX’s role in investigating and prosecuting war crimes.
