The European Union and the United States of America ministerial meeting on justice and home affairs will take place in Washington on Monday.
The EU and US delegations are going to exchange information on the recent achievements in the area of justice and home affairs, said an EU Presidency statement today.
The EU will be represented on behalf of the EU Lithuanian Presidency by Minister of Justice of Lithuania Juozas Bernatonis and Vice-Minister of the Interior of Lithuania Elvinas Jankevicius, EU Commissioner for Justice Viviane Reding and the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom.
“With our US partners we have to discuss a lot of issues in the area of justice which are topical for both sides. It is intended to review the current situation in the field of data protection, prospects of Europol,” said Bernatonis in press statements.
On his part, Jankevicius said “in the context of mobility, migration and border management, special attention will be given to the situation in Syria and the related issue of migration flows”.
“At the meeting it is also expected to discuss the EU-US cooperation in the areas of fight against terrorism, fight against cybercrime and cyber security, ” he added.
