European Union has taken a decision to impose restrictions on the issuance of travel visas to the Ukrainian officials, whom it deems responsible for the use of violence in Ukraine, Italian Foreign Minister Emma Bonino said.
An EU ministerial gathering in Brussels also decided to freeze the officials’ financial accounts, should the latter be tracked down in the West.
Bonino said the position had been agreed with the French, German and Polish foreign ministers currently staying in Kiev to hold negotiations with President Viktor Yanukovich.
“The decision is to proceed very rapidly, in the next hours, to a visa ban and asset freeze on those who have committed the violence,” she announced.
