French President Francois Hollande will pay a visit to Central African Republic’s capital of Bangui on Friday, following its official travel to Nigeria, French president’s office said Thursday.
“The head of state will make a speech to the troops deployed in Sangaris operation and meet Central African Republic’s President Catherine Samba-Panza, as well as religious authorities of the country,” said the Elysee Palace in a statement.
On Tuesday, the National Assembly approved a bill allowing French forces to stay longer than expected in Central African Republic as clashes between sectarian groups still threatening the stability in the former French colony.
