Algerian FM: Egypt airstrikes will not change regional countries commitment to dialogue in Libya

Airstrikes conducted by Egyptian air force against a site of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” (IS/Daech) in Libya “are not likely to fundamentally change the commitment of countries in the region to an inclusive dialogue in Libya,” Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra stressed Monday.
“I do not think what happened (in Libya) is likely to fundamentally change the commitment of the countries of the region to move towards an inclusive dialogue, national reconciliation and representative institutions of this country ” said Lamamra at a joint press conference with Dutch Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Bert Koenders who is on a two-day visit to Algeria.

“As you know, governments must ensure the dignity and safety of their citizens abroad. There are a variety of ways to ensure this, and some are more special than others,” said Lamamra

“Nevertheless, we continue to work with Egypt and with other parties to transcend this difficult situation and make sure that all Libyans, except terrorists, can all move towards national reconciliation through dialogue,” Lamamra stated.
