Ukraine calls for EU peacekeepers

imgUkraine Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenuik met here Thursday Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and discussed with him the latest situation in Ukraine.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Yatsenuik said that yesterday the House of Representatives in Ukraine passed a resolution asking the EU and UN to send peacekeepers in order not just to verify but to secure the implementation of the Minsk deal.
“It’s in joint interest to deploy peacekeepers and this is the initiative that was launched by the Ukrainian President and government and we expect that our European friends will support this idea because everyone wants to get peace in Europe and one of the tools to reach this peace is to deploy peacekeepers,” he said.
Commenting on media reports of an European easing of sanctions on Russia, he said “I strongly reject any debate on easing on sanctions.”
