“Progress” has been made recently on the situation in Mali, said Tuesday in Algiers to advise the French President for Africa Hélène Le Gall, stressing “the influence” of Algeria in the region.
“We addressed African issues and we have noted that progress has been made recently on the situation in Mali. We must continue in the same vein in the areas of security, development and political support, “said Le Gal to the press at the end of his meeting with the Minister for Maghreb, Arab and African Affairs Union League Abdelkader Messahel.
“Algeria has a lot of influence on the countries of the region and it is important that Algeria and France influence the ongoing crises, as is the case in Libya, while the government is in place and a solution to the crisis is reached, “added Le Gal.
She stressed a “convergence of views” between the two countries on the situation in Tunisia, Libya and “the terrorist threat from Boko Haram group.”
For his part, Mr. Messahel stressed that this meeting is part of a series of “consultations” on issues concerning the two countries, including the situation in Mali “where France is a member of the mediation group and plays a role quite important in the implementation of the Algiers Agreements. “
