Algeria calls on Libya unity government to be formed quickly

Algeria yesterday called for the formation of the Libyan national unity government to be accelerated, given the “very important because of the unsafe at all levels in the country,” the Anadolu Agency reported.
Following a meeting with the UN envoy for Libya Martin Kobler, Algerian Minister for Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel, said: “We discussed the question of the formation of the Libyan national unity government, which we hope will be formed in the coming days. “
“Very important missions are waiting for the government to carry out as soon as it is formed in the capital Tripoli,” he said. He added that Kobler informed the Algerian politicians on UN efforts exerted in Libya, as well as the dangerous situation in the country.
On January 25 the parliament in Tobruk announced he did not recognize the government of national understanding. He asked the Prime Minister Fayez Al-Sarraj reduce the number of departments within 10 days, but this has not yet occurred.
Meanwhile, Kobler said: “There must be progress internationally supported on the political tract. The neighboring countries of Libya, including Algeria, have an important role in Libya. ”
He added: “Algeria has an important role in Libya because it has a 1,000 kilometer border with it.”
Kobler’s visit came in the wake of the visit by Al-Sarraj in Algeria in January where he met with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal.
Representatives of the two countries discussed the fight against terrorism and the promotion of economic relations.
