UN holds ministerial meeting on implementation of Mali Peace Agreement

A ministerial meeting on Mali took place Friday in New York to speed up the implementation of the Peace and Reconciliation Agreement in Mali, resulting from Algiers process.
This high-level meeting, in which partook Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra, was co-chaired by Algeria, Mali, and UN.
Held on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly, the meeting was opened by Malian President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta and Secretary General of the UN Ban Ki-moon.
The meeting aims at strengthening “the commitment of the international community to speeding up the implementation of the Agreement whose is being delayed by some measures undermining sustainable peace,” according to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
Besides, the meeting focused on the implementation of resolution 2295 that aims at speeding up the implementation of the Agreement by involved parties and means to strengthen security cooperation and coordination between countries of the Sahel region in order to recover peace in Mali, the same source said.
