The European Union has expressed concern over the ongoing violent acts in southern Libya, saying those actions threaten the political process, according to a statement by the EU Spokesman on Monday.
‘Libyans deserve peace , and expect all parties would refrain from violence and take the necessary steps to pacify the situation, the Spokesman said, adding that ‘the political crisis could only be resolved through negotiations between interested parties who have the desire to reach an agreement, and who put the interests of Libya first.’
‘The EU and the UN are still the framework through which the international community extend their support to the political process in Libya, the Spokesman said, indicating that the EU would continue to support the process including through the quartet committee.
