Security campaigns | Backed by Coalition helicopters, SDF kill six ISIS members in Deir Ezzor countryside

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have documented the death of six members of ISIS cells, yesterday, after a security raid by SDF-backed “HAT”, backed by International Coalition helicopters, in Hebat Al-Aid area in the northern desert of Deir Ezzor near Al-Suwar town. During the security campaign, clashes with machineguns erupted between the SDF security forces and ISIS cells, which resulted in the death of the six members.

This development comes as a part of SDF and International Coalition’s security campaigns against ISIS members and cells in SDF-held areas.

Yesterday, SOHR activists said that the Syria Democratic Forces (SDF) raided a house in the village of Al-Hajjna in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, inhabited by displaced people, and killed one person, while two others managed to escape to an unknown destination, after clashes with machine guns between them and members of SDF.

Meanwhile, SDF special forces launched a campaign of arrests in different areas in Deir ez-Zor countryside, arresting a number of people, including a former member of the Free Army who fought previously against the “Islamic State”, after raiding his house in the village of Al-Subha in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor. Sources have also reported the arrest of cells and members of the Islamic State.

On March 9, reliable sources reported that a delegation of the International Coalition paid a visit to the “Civil Council of the Central Region” in Al-Busayrah city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The delegation, which was escorted by a group of Asayish and SDF, checked the council’s working mechanism. It is worth noting that several armoured vehicles came to the area from Koniko oil field, amid flight by US helicopters over the region. Also, a military patrol was conducted in Al-Busayrah and Al-Shuhayl in eastern Deir Ezzor, and it is supposed to head to Hajin, Al-Hawaij and Al-Omar oil field.
