Escalation of the Confrontation Between Israel and the Houthis Background and Significance

On July 19, 2024, an explosion occurred in the center of Tel Aviv, killing one civilian and
injuring eight others. The IDF spokesperson confirmed that Tel Aviv had been attacked by an
Iranian-made UAV launched in Yemen by the Houthis. It was the first successful Houthi UAV
attack on Israeli territory since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023.
