Amnesty International has stated that Israel has unlawfully destroyed agricultural land and civilian structures in the region along the eastern border of Gaza.
It was emphasized that such cases of destruction should be investigated as part of accusations of war crimes.
In the organization’s statement, it is mentioned that the investigation should examine the Israeli army’s campaign to significantly expand the buffer zone along the eastern perimeter of the occupied Gaza Strip.
It adds that Amnesty International analyzed satellite images and videos shared by Israeli soldiers on social media between October 2023 and May 2024, identifying newly evacuated lands along the eastern border of Gaza, ranging from 1 to 1.8 kilometers in width.
The statement mentions that in some videos, Israeli soldiers can be seen taking pictures or celebrating while buildings are being demolished in the background.
It is further added that the Israeli army unlawfully destroyed agricultural land and civilian buildings using bulldozers and manually planted explosives, noting that entire neighborhoods, including houses, schools, and mosques, were destroyed in this way.
Despite a UN resolution calling for a ceasefire, since October 7 of last year, Israel has carried out continuous attacks on the Gaza Strip, which have so far resulted in the deaths of nearly 40,900 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and approximately 94,400 have been injured.
The ongoing blockade of the enclave has led to a severe shortage of food, clean water, and medicine, leaving much of the region in ruins.
Israel is facing accusations of genocide for its actions in Gaza before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, according to Anadolu Agency.
